Georgetown Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center Signs on to OncLive Strategic Alliance Partnership Program

OncLive and Georgetown Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center have teamed up to highlight leading-edge cancer research and innovative cancer treatment programs, OncLive announced today. The collaboration is part of OncLive's Strategic Alliance Partnership initiative.

PLAINSBORO, N.J. (March 19, 2015) — OncLive® and Georgetown Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center have teamed up to highlight leading-edge cancer research and innovative cancer treatment programs, OncLive announced today. The collaboration is part of OncLive’s Strategic Alliance Partnership initiative.

Under the terms of the alliance, OncLive’s editorial and marketing teams will work with the Georgetown Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center to spotlight the latest news about its research into cancer risk factors and early detection, among other things. Georgetown Lombardi is the only facility in Washington, D.C., designated as a Comprehensive Cancer Center by the National Cancer Institute.

Named after famed football coach Vince Lombardi by a member of his oncology team, Georgetown Lombardi is developing therapies to improve cancer patients’ quality of life as well as their longevity. The research faculty members also focus on designing effective strategies for cancer prevention. Georgetown Lombardi is the recipient of many awards, including the designation of its breast imaging facility as a Breast Health Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology.

Louis M. Weiner, M.D., heads Georgetown Lombardi. Noted for his research into immunotherapy treatments, Dr. Weiner directs the educational, clinical and research branches. Georgetown Lombardi’s mission is “to prevent, treat and cure cancers by linking scientific discovery, expert and compassionate patient care, quality education and partnership with the community.”
