Thomas Jefferson University Hospital (Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center at Jefferson) is ranked No. 20 in the Nation in the cancer specialty, according to US News and World Report.

According to new rankings released today from US News & World Report, Thomas Jefferson University Hospital (Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center at Jefferson) is ranked in the cancer specialty as No. 20 in the nation for 2017-2018. This ranking is up from the 2016-2017 ranking of 29, further raising the profile of Center City Philadelphia’s only National Cancer Institute (NCI)-designated Cancer Center. US News & World Report Best Hospitals rankings recognize hospitals that treat the most challenging patients, and evaluate each hospital’s use of advanced technologies, safety, outcomes, and capacity to overcome other medical issues.

The Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center at Jefferson first achieved NCI designation in 1996. As part of Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, it has been consecutively ranked by US News & Report amongst the top 50 national Cancer Centers since 2008.

Factors that influenced Thomas Jefferson University Hospital’s exceptional ranking in the cancer specialty include nurse Magnet status, capacity to treat cancer patients with underlying previous or complicated conditions, and continued superior scores for outcomes.

The national ranking for cancer for Thomas Jefferson University Hospital (Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center at Jefferson) contributed to overall exceptional ranking for Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, which is named 16th on U.S. News & World Report’s 2017-2018 Best Hospitals Honor Roll.
