Jyoti D. Patel, MD, thoracic oncologist, Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, discusses the benefits of multidisciplinary approach for the treatment of patients with stage III disease.

All patients with stage III disease will receive chemotherapy, Patel says, and their medical oncologist will guide them through the process. There needs to be a conversation with a radiation oncologist regarding heart and lung toxicity and a conversation with a surgeon regarding resection.
