Within UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center focus groups, Stiles finds that supportive care is very important among patients. The WeCARE! Community-Based Cancer Peer Navigator Program, held at the center, allows cancer survivors to show support for newly diagnosed patients. Data show that the program helps to reduce patient anxiety, as well as educate patients on communicating with their oncologist.

Survivors, referred to as navigators in the program, enjoy assisting new patients through their diagnosis, Stiles explains.
