The 2012 Chicago Multidisciplinary Symposium in Thoracic Oncology, was held at the Marriott Downtown Chicago Magnificent Mile Hotel from September 6-8, 2012. Sessions at the symposium discussed utilizing a multidisciplinary treatment approach for the treatment of thoracic cancers. The meeting fostered interaction and the exchange of ideas between surgeons, medical oncologists, and radiation specialists.

Sessions at the conference contained information from speakers from around the world who discussed their recent clinical trials and research. Topics included a variety of strategies to treat lung and esophageal cancer, malignant mesothelioma, and metastatic cancers of the chest. In addition, the symposium highlighted the translation of novel clinically significant discoveries into clinical practice. Other topics examined molecular diagnoses, pathology, and the clinical significance of targeted therapies in molecularly defined patients and the selection of subpopulations for clinical trials.
