Closing Remarks and Emerging Data Outlook

Chinmay Jani, MD, of the University of Miami Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, closes the discussion with Rajwanth R. Veluswamy, MD, MSCR, of the Perlmutter Cancer Center at NYU Langone Health, by naming the emerging data he is watching most closely in KRAS-mutated non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Dr. Jani points to ongoing clinical trials of newer KRAS G12C- and G12D-specific inhibitors, spanning agents in earlier development through those furthest along, and says he is particularly interested in trial eligibility criteria and design as these agents move forward. He also highlights combination approaches, including newer agents paired with chemotherapy and combinations targeting downstream signaling pathways, as areas of active interest. Dr. Jani expresses hope that this emerging data could soon move KRAS G12C from a non-actionable to a fully actionable alteration in stage IV NSCLC, a shift he frames as meaningful across other KRAS-mutated cancers as well, including pancreatic and gastrointestinal malignancies.
