Christina M. Annunziata, MD, PhD, investigator, Women's Malignancies Branch, head, Translational Genomics Section, National Cancer Institute, discusses focusing efforts to prevent gynecologic cancers.

Researchers need to think about treating patients earlier and determining how to prevent cancer from forming in the first place, she explains. There needs to be more examinations in high-risk groups and identify patients who are at risk for these gynecologic cancers—then work to help prevent a cancer diagnosis from occurring.
