Bryan R. Haugen, MD, Head, Division of Endocrinology, Metabolism, and Diabetes, Department of Medicine, University of Colorado School of Medicine, describes topics and features of the 82nd Annual Meeting of the American Thyroid Association (ATA), taking place from September 19-23, 2012, in Quebec City, Canada.

The most recent ATA meeting features translational and clinical sessions highlighting recent work and breakthroughs in thyroid hormone action, the science of thyroid cancer, developmental biology, and autoimmunity. Over the course of the five-day conference, a number of lectures provide information to hrlp move the field of thyroidology forward, Haugen states.

Haugen, the President-Elect of ATA, provides further information on the development of the 2013 ATA meeting, which will be held in San Juan, Puerto Rico in October 2013.
