Vincent Miller, MD, Chief Medical Officer, Foundation Medicine, describes FoundationOne, a fully informative genomic profile that launched in 2012.
FoundationOne characterizes alterations and changes in DNA in an individual’s tumor across the subset of genes that have been implicated in human cancer. FoundationOne does not look at all genes in the genome nor all exomes or eons in the gene, but instead focuses on about 236 genes.
The utility of FoundationOne is to empower a medical oncologist to integrate results and turn potential therapies into the totality of a patient’s care.
