Sustained Benefit of Adjuvant Olaparib in Women with Germline BRCA1- and BRCA2-associated High-risk HER2-negative Early Breast Cancer: Updated Results from the OlympiA Phase III Trial

Rapid readout: 6-year Olympia data confirm adjuvant olaparib boosts survival in BRCA1/2 high-risk early breast cancer, with reassuring long-term safety.

An expert reviews long-term follow-up from the OlympiA trial, which tested adjuvant olaparib in patients with germline BRCA-associated, high-risk, HER2-negative early breast cancer. With extended follow-up, olaparib continued to improve invasive disease-free survival, distant disease-free survival, and overall survival compared with placebo, and the benefit held across key subgroups, including high-risk hormone receptor–positive disease. There was no increased risk of MDS/AML, and the discussion covers what these results mean for practice today.
