Kathryn A. Gold, MD, medical oncologist, associate professor of medicine, UC San Diego Heath, discusses the current state of human papilloma virus (HPV)-related head and neck cancer.

Clinicians are increasingly seeing instances of head and neck cancer that do not have the traditional risk factors.

This is due to the rise in the HPV-related head and neck cancer. These patients tend to have a better prognosis than those with tobacco- or alcohol-related head and neck cancer.
