Jihad Kaouk, MD, urologist, Cleveland Clinic, discusses the results of a study of robot-assisted partial nephrectomy for selected renal mass using an off-clamp approach compared to an on-clamp approach for patients with renal cell carcinoma (RCC).

In this study, it was determined that the off-clamp approach saw better overall kidney preservation when compared to the on-clamp approach, explains Kaouk.

According to Kaouk, it is better to completely avoid clamping to see the best preservation of the kidney.
