In this segment, Gary M. Kirsh, MD, describes his practice’s model of coordinating care of each patient by having physicians provide sub-specialty care. For example, if a patient develops metastases, he may be switched to a different doctor—a specialist in treatment and managing metastases. Sanford J. Siegel, MD, shares that his practice takes a similar approach, but uses physician assistants. He sees the effectiveness of using these physician assistants, who are adept at running clinics in a protocol-driven manner.
