Darcy Burbage, RN, MSN, AOCN, CBCN, Helen F. Graham Cancer Center & Research Institute, discusses the role nurses play in treating patients with chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN).

Burbage emphasizes that management of CIPN should begin even before the onset of the condition, when nurses should educate their patients. Once the patient does have CIPN, nurses can continue to provide information and advice, as well as referrals to physical and occupational therapy.
