Surgery has demonstrated to be a good option for these patients, as both endometrial and uterine cancers are typically confined to the uterus. Select patients do present with higher-grade tumors, however, and may have metastatic disease. These diagnoses require options beyond surgery, Ko explains.

In cases in which other treatment options need to be pursued, hormonal agents, radiation therapy, or upfront chemotherapy may be utilized in patients—particularly in those who have fertility-sparing issues.
