Yoga was first practiced thousands of years ago in India, and over time, this practice was taught to people in India and around the world. These early yogis (males) and yoginis (females) observed the world around them and learned about ways to promote health in body, mind, and spirit. They developed techniques to regulate their bodily functions, ate foods that made them healthy, and created techniques to focus their minds and relax their bodies.

A dedicated yoga practice helps us to be healthy. We learn deep breathing techniques to relax us and expel impurities from our bodies. We eat wholesome foods to nourish us. In yoga, we have a physical practice that tones our muscles, strengthens our bones, calms our nervous system, and massages our internal organs. All of these practices keep us healthy.

People living with cancer can benefit from a dedicated yoga practice. We will review research studies that support how yoga techniques help with fatigue and recovery.
