Welcome to OncLive On Air®! I’m your host today, Caroline Seymour.

OncLive On Air is a podcast from OncLive®, which provides oncology professionals with the resources and information they need to provide the best patient care. In both digital and print formats, OncLive covers every angle of oncology practice, from new technology to treatment advances to important regulatory decisions.

In today’s episode, sponsored by Coherus BioSciences, we had the pleasure of speaking with Hyunseok (Hyu) Kang, MD, MPH, FACP, an associate professor and medical oncologist at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) Health.

On October 27, 2023, toripalimab-tpzi (Loqtorzi) received approval from the FDA for use in combination with cisplatin and gemcitabine as frontline therapy in patients with metastatic or recurrent locally advanced nasopharyngeal carcinoma, and as monotherapy for the treatment of patients with recurrent, unresectable, or metastatic nasopharyngeal carcinoma with disease progression on or after platinum-containing chemotherapy.

In our exclusive interview, Dr Kang discussed the significance of the approval, his anticipated use of the agent since its inclusion on UCSF’s formulary, and the debate around Epstein-Barr virus as a selection criteria for treatment eligibility.
